Project Introduction

The goal of the project is to enhance the STEAM learning and teaching experiences of students and teachers via a practice-based approach to integrated content of fashion design, wearable technology and design thinking with real world applications. Via a practice-based approach involving a spectrum of activities including, seminars, design studio, mini school-based fashion shows and exhibitions, participants will investigate, explore and innovate via fashion applications. The project aims to nurture creativity, critical thinking with STEAM knowledge and skills to equip the participants to become leaders of innovation with practical impact on industry and society.

The project will contribute to teachers’ professional training, helping them to develop new ways to actively engage students in STEAM via fashion design and technology that is universally relevant. For students, the project will contribute to the development of real-world problem-solving skills via the reinforcement of foundational STEM knowledge with design thinking.

The creative innovation landscape is fast evolving, the collaborations stakeholders from fashion, art and leading academics will enable project participants to gain key insights for cutting edge pedagogical approaches and keep abreast of current and emerging issues in STEAM and creative innovation. It will also contribute to the participants’ network to further develop STEAM and STEM curriculum and activities beyond the duration of the project.
